Here's a Tarzan cover by an unknown artist which clearly draws its inspiration from a famous Burne Hogarth image.
The lush and vivid flow of a Hogarth page is not naturalistic necessarily, but it is dramatic and compelling.

Mick Brownfield is credited as the artist and the design is apparently by Coralie Bickford-Smith, but it seems to me that Hogarth did all the heavy lifting.
