The Brave And The Bubbly!

This Neal Adams cover is a knockout. Seemingly, Carmine Infantino designed many of these covers and Adams rendered them, but whatever the process, these covers for The Brave and the Bold during this period are simply outstanding examples of what comic book covers ought to be. The image is eye-catching and visually clear, and evokes a sense of curiosity about how such an outlandish scene came to be. This is a comic I want to read. Now most of the time the story didn't live up to the advertising, but that's not the cover's fault. It did its job.

Here's the original.

And here's the original repurposed to become an ad with Siren-like characteristics.

  2. Perhaps it was the design work by Infantino, but the covers by Adams at this time are especially potent.
